1. MAPICS software license keys usually expire every year.  MAPICS customers need to purchase a new annual license key from MAPICS or software stops working completely.  By replacing MAPICS with Xdata, there will no longer be a need to pay "annual license key fees". We want you to continue to subscribe to our support plans...but they are NOT REQUIRED. You may continue to use Xdata products without fear of audits..

2. MAPICS relies heavily on 3rd party providers to handle basic ERP functions included in GXD  like: EDI, Bar code printing, Returned Goods/Return Materials, Vendor Buy Tracking, Electronic Document Distribution.

3. GXD modules are integrated in a real-time, so  file updating is  instantaneous and automatic, but MAPICS relies on batch processing to update critical data.

4. GXD is available for Microsoft SQL or  IBM's DB2/400.

5.  MAPICS licenses require named user/client.. GXD is licensed as (number) concurrent users...no name restrictions

6. Installed MAPICS packages are typically heavily modified.  Companies running MAPICS generally are unable to accept and apply MAPICS patches, updates, and upgrades because the modifications will interfere with the customizations that are required to run their businesses.  GXD is typically installed as a standard system without need to modify...flexible system setup enables ease of conversion and ease of implementation.

7. GXD includes a rules-based product configurator module.  It's not an up-charge like MAPICS.  The GXD product configurator is a powerful tool that Xdata includes for no extra charge.

8. MAPICS is typically sold by the module, ...at a premium, which means many incomplete systems. GXD is sold as a complete system.
